The Urban League of Metropolitan Saint Louis has you covered with their Urban Expo: Back to School & Community Festival (Aug. 9-11) at America’s Center. The expo is an effort to support the Urban League’s mission of empowering their 100,000 plus clients with vital access to programs and resources that serve as a catalyst for positive change within the African-American community. There is truly something for everyone at this event including: live entertainment such as Yolanda Adams and Dorinda Clark, job fair, book bags, empowerment seminars, family resources, food, games, prizes, health screenings, literary corner, school supplies, senior services, women’s empowerment summit, workshops and more.

Project Connect to Hold Public Meeting 4 on February 21st

Project Connect will host its third public meeting Tuesday, February 21, 2017, from 5:30 –7:30 p.m. at the Vashon High School auditorium. Event Website

Project Connect is the Action Plan being developed by the City of St. Louis and its residents that will connect current initiatives being proposed by the public and private sectors in the neighborhoods north of downtown, including the Next NGA West headquarters.

At the meeting, attendees will learn about Project Connect’s progress, get an update on the City’s site preparation for NGA, and have an opportunity to offer input into the planning process that will help shape the future of the neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods. Attendees may also engage with the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) about jobs and job training; the Army Corps of Engineers about feedback and site design; and the NGA, whose representative will update the community on planning progress and be able to answer questions about the NGA.

MO PTAC St. Louis is conducting a System Award Management (SAM) workshop for those contractors who attended the December 8, 2016 USACE, Kansas City District Industry Information Forum for the “National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency Next NGA West Campus (N2W)” program held at the Central Library, in St. Louis, MO. If you are not registered in SAM, this workshop is for you. The workshop is free.

You MUST have your DUNS to register for SAM. If you do not have your DUNS, please register at the following site http://fedgov.dnb.com/webform.

Project Connect will host its third public meeting Monday, January 23, 2017, from 5:30 –7:30 p.m. at Vashon High School. Event Website

Additionally, a representative from NGA will discuss their Partners in Education (PIE) program, a volunteer educational outreach initiative, including efforts in the Project Connect community. The PIE program [www.nga.mil] demonstrates NGA’s commitment to advancing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in local schools and to being a good neighbor to the communities adjacent to NGA facilities.
